Go ahead and drop your guard for once; you deserve that. I have found this blog to be eloquent and wise--the best of the blogs on this painful topic. Having a husband leave you after 26 years (mine did the same 9 months ago) hurts to the core. The abandoned jewelry made me saddest in this post, though it's obvious to me that Bob's "reasons" for leaving had everything to do with his fears for his own future in which he, too, would inevitably slow down and lose his youthful fitness--as witnessed by the photo.
Thank you for your intelligent and healing words. Bob was wrong: your writing has borne fruit.

I've got lots of catching up to finish reading your blog. I thoroughly enjoy it because it rings so true and close to my own life, and because it's wonderfully written.

I am only 3 1/2 years out of a 36 year marriage...we would have had our 40th anniversary just last week, but now I can just wish myself Happy NON-Anniversary.

Keep writing.

I am so glad that i came across this blog. I am going through a painful "Collaborative Divorce" process, and this has lifted me up. Thank you for blogging. Perhaps i will do the same some day, as our life stories should be shared to help others cope.
